2nd Year on my undergraduate course.

What did/do you get involved with at university?

• Portfolio Analyst for the UCL Investment Fund

• Strategy Consulting Masterclass

• Guest Speakers from Investment banks and Consulting firms

• Data Science Society holds coding workshops.

• LSE Alternative Investments conference in January.

What did you find most valuable about your experiences at Ashmole Academy? What skills did it help you to develop?

Ashmole helped me develop my intellectual curiosity through its teaching and additional programmes, alongside the main syllabus.

Which Programme/s did you get involved in during 6th Form e.g. MedSoc/ Oxbridge/ other:

MedSoc and G&T programme

What top tips would you give to other students wishing to follow a similar career to yours?

In STEM at the university level, it becomes more important to know why things happen as well as simply what happens in different conditions and contexts. The amount of content

covered increases by a significant proportion and past 1st year, it is extremely difficult to learn everything from memory alone.  Chemistry has a large lab component where safety and understanding of lab techniques becomes critical.  This can be easy to overlook in secondary school as the reagents you use wouldn’t be 99% pure or fatal and the jump to university labs can at first be quite intimidating.

How did Ashmole help you reach your goals?

Ashmole provided me with the support and resources I needed through my studies and gave opportunities to get more involved with the school community and participate in wider challenges, such as Olympiads and the Maths Challenge, which are the sorts of activities that can help differentiate yourself from others and show commitment towards your subject.
