Enrichment Activities

Enrichment at Ashmole Academy Sixth Form

At Ashmole Academy Sixth Form, we believe that a rich and diverse programme of enrichment activities plays a crucial role in personal and academic development. Our enrichment offerings provide students with opportunities to explore interests beyond the classroom, develop key skills, and enhance their university or career prospects.

Many of our enrichment activities are integrated with the Ashmolean Scholars Programme. This programme is designed for all students who are looking to push the boundaries of their academic abilities.

In addition to the academic enrichment provided by the Ashmolean Scholars Programme, students can participate in a variety of clubs and societies that reflect their diverse interests. For those interested in pursuing a career in healthcare, the Medicine Society offers valuable insights and guidance on the application process, work experience, and interviews. It provides an ideal forum for aspiring medical professionals to share knowledge and experiences.

Students with a passion for social justice and gender equality can join the Feminist Society, where they engage in discussions and initiatives that promote gender equity. The Afro-Caribbean Society creates a space for students to celebrate and explore Afro-Caribbean culture, while also addressing important issues related to race, identity, and diversity.

We also have faith societies that provide a platform for students to discuss and practice their beliefs in a supportive and respectful environment.

In addition to intellectual pursuits, our enrichment programme includes a wide range of sports and physical activities, promoting health and wellbeing among our students. Whether it’s participating in competitive team sports or enjoying recreational activities, there’s something for everyone.

Our Year 12 Transition Programme ensures that new sixth formers are supported as they move from GCSEs to A-Levels. This programme provides academic guidance and personal development workshops to help students navigate the demands of their new academic environment.

We also offer numerous student leadership opportunities, including roles in mentoring, tutoring, and the buddy system to the lower school. These positions enable students to develop leadership, communication, and organisational skills that are highly valued in both higher education and employment.

Trips

Our Sixth Form students have a wide range of enriching trips and excursions available to them, designed to support both their academic growth and personal development.

Among the highlights are our New York City trip and annual ski trips, which provide unique cultural and recreational experiences. For students focused on specific subjects, we offer academically enriching excursions, including fieldwork at Flatford Mill for Geography students, a visit to the Houses of Parliament for those studying Politics, and hands-on Biology experiences. These subject-specific trips are exclusive to students enrolled in these courses, providing an invaluable extension to their classroom learning.

Additionally, our Sixth Form offers opportunities such as the Duke of Edinburgh Award, alongside various other specialized study visits across disciplines, aimed at deepening students' understanding and engagement in their chosen subjects.

These experiences not only enhance academic learning but also foster skills and memories that extend well beyond the classroom.
