Ashmole Academy Yr 9 Boys Football Team Win Barnet Cup
Ashmole Academy's Year 9 Boys Football Team defeated Finchley Catholic's 3-0 to win the Barnet Cup.
After an even start Ashmole took the lead halfway through the first half when captain Alfie Dorrington rose above everyone else to head in a Jacob Bland corner. Ashmole continued to dominate throughout the remainder of the first half during which the Finchley Catholic goalkeeper denied Ashmole on numerous occasions with a number of important saves.
At the outset of the second half Finchley Catholic piled pressure on the Ashmole goal, forcing Ashmole goalkeeper Lewie Pochetty-Francis into some excellent stops. After withstanding this assault Ashmole began to exercise some control, doubling their lead when Chibike Okechukwu scored from the edge of the box with a well executed shot. Ashmole's dominance was then further evidenced when Chibike Okechukwu ran through the entire Finchley Catholic defence and beat their goalkeeper with a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.
This was an excellent result and is the first time this team have won the Barnet Cup.
